PANDEMIC BLUES
Living through the pandemic has been hard. Each day seems the same and we wake up wondering if we are living in the movie “Groundhog Day.” Working on travel books has really been the one thing that has gotten us through the pandemic as they take us somewhere beautiful – if only for a couple hours a day – where our minds can wander and our spirits lifted.
We just finished a book depicting a backroads trip to the Dolomites in Italy. It was the perfect pandemic project as we didn’t really know much about the Dolomites. We were immediately swept away by the beauty of this mountain range in northeastern Italy. The Dolomites are different from other mountain ranges we have seen and are so incredibly spectacular that they provided the perfect backdrop for this special book and allowed us to slip away to this beautiful part of the world and forget our everyday troubles. The trip ended with a stop in the always stunning Venice and a visit to the Venice Biennale. The incredible art exhibitions at the 2019 Biennale were magnificent and provided the perfect colorful ending to this beautiful travel book.
With the development of several vaccines, the end of our “Groundhog Day” could be coming soon, but until then the vistas from our travel books help us navigate these uncertain times. Be well and safe!
